Current music news

As we enter the season of Lent you might decide that you would like to be a part of a small group….and remember that there are a number of small musical groups at Trinity. There are groups for children, youth and adults, both vocal and instrumental. We get to know each other and experience fellowship as we grow in our faith and we prepare music that will be shared in worship. Our scriptures are filled with references to music. Strike the harp, crash the cymbals and make a joyful noise before the Lord!

Join us as we enter the Lenten season with our Ash Wednesday Service of Forgiveness on Wednesday, February 6th at 6:30 pm. There will be no youth or children’s choirs that evening, so that all of us can worship together as we enter this holy season. Chancel Choir and Holy Ground will rehearse after the service. The Kingdom of God is near and Trinity is exploding with the sounds of Music!

Prayz Kidz are directed by Susan Berray and practice every Sunday during Children in Worship as a part of the 8:45 service. This Choir is designed for pre-school children through Kindergarten. They sing in Worship on the first Sunday of the month. This group will also meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:15–7:30pm. Rehearsal Times

SoundXpress is directed by Melva Johonson and practices on Wednesday evenings from 6:15–7pm in the Music Room. This choir is designed for children in grades 1–6. They sing for 8:45 Worship on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Alicia Daffener is the accompanist. . Rehearsal Times

Free Spirit is our Show Choir for Youth in grades 7–12. They meet with Pam Vaughn, and DeAnn Wintle in the Sanctuary each Wednesday from 6:15 –7pm. This group is designed to incorporate instrumentalists, singing and dancing with our Contemporary Christian music. They will help to lead us in 11:00 Worship on the 3rd Sunday of the month. . Trinity Flash is our weekly worship announcement team that is led by Melva Johnson. Youth meet with Melva to prepare weekly reports for our Worship Flash Announcements. These will be taped on Wednesday evening by Jason Hindley between 7:00 – 7:15pm and then edited by Matt Hindley for Worship presentation. Rehearsal Times

Chancel Choir is our adult singing group. It is open to any adult who enjoys praising God through song! This group enjoys weekly fellowship as they prepare music for weekly services. They rehearse on Wednesday evening 7–8pm in the music room. Everyone is welcome. Rehearsal Times

Holy Ground is our Praise Band made up of congregational instrumentalists and vocalists who enjoy praising God through various musical mediums. They rehearse on Wednesday from 8– 9pm and play for a majority of our Worship Services. They are a very committed group who love the Lord! They come in all ages and with all sorts of diverse talents and abilities. Please plan to join us as we celebrate our Love of the Lord through music! Rehearsal Times

Multi-Media Team is a group who are continually working on creating worship enhancements. They meet on an ongoing basis with Pastor Nan to study the scriptures and brainstorm ideas about upcoming worship. They do research and create metaphor pictures and movie presentations to help us better understand God’s word. This team also includes those who work to maintain the sanctuary computers, sound and recording equipment. It takes many hands and hearts to bring the word of God to the people of God on a Sunday morning.

Christmas Orchestra is open to any instrumentalist who might enjoy playing Carols before our Christmas Eve services. We play traditional carols and rehearse a minimal number of times.

Lenten Studies
The Lenten study, Forty Days to Begin a Spiritual Life, is a great way to look at your spiritual life as well as share fellowship with a small group. 
The study groups will meet at the following times:
Saturday morning at 9:30 am with Nan and Lew Kaye-Skinner--begins Feb 9
Saturday evening at 6:00 pm with Pam and Stan Vaughn (including supper)--begins Feb 15
Sunday morning at 10:00 am with Carolyn Elledge--in parlor at church--begins Feb 10
Wednesday evening at 6:30 with Judy Dappen--in parlor at church--begins Feb 13
Books are $14. Please contact the office if you are interested.

Children's Lenten Bible School
When: Wednesdays, February 13 to March 12
Bible School themes: Preschool (ages 3-5): "Live Big"
Grades 1-6: "Fun Science with Bible Stories"
Time: 7:00-7:30 (immediately following music rehearsals)

TUMC Education

Growing in Faith and Love for Christ

Our Christian Education Program has a wide variety of offerings. There is time dedicated to faith development from 10:00 to 10:45 am on Sundays that offer classes beginning with children 3 years old. Adult classes include "The Weekly Word" and short term study groups throughout the year.

Youth in grades 7-12 are offered the opportunity to participate in the youth program. Special events and mission projects are planned for weekends. Seventh and eighth graders are encouraged to participate in the Confirmation class which is a two year exploration of faith and church membership.

All young adults are invited for fellowhip at 10 am on Sundays in the old kitchen downstairs for coffee and conversation.
